anonymous incidents in the oceans around Lanka have many people concerned about the peace process. Worse, the SriLanka government seems intent on building a
military base right in Jaffna (i've bicycled around the areas that are now cordoned off). The war in Iraq doesn't help. I've read at least one report of Norwegian diplomats (Norway's doing third-party mediation here) cancelling visits to deal with the Iraq situation. One up note, there may be an
LTTE/JVP meeting soon. The JVP is the biggest party that's clearly opposed to the current peace process; if they and the LiberationTigersOfTamilEelam can come to some agreement it would be a big plus.
